MOSTI InnoFund for Dissolve Air Floatation Research

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is committed to championing scientific discovery and transforming innovation through efficient, ethical and professional management of funds for Research and Development and Commercialisation (R&D&C); increasing the quantity and quality of human capital in Science, technology and innovation (STI).

Pinewater Qasia has been granted with InnoFund by MOSTI in doing the research and development for improvising the technologies of Dissolve Air Floatation (DAF) in water treatment system.

InnoFund is a grant scheme which funds the development or improvement of new or existing products, processes or services with elements of innovation. The project must have economic value and improves the societal well-being of the community.

Our research is to develop an advance dissolve air floatation for effective water treatment system device. The nozzle size is very important because from the nozzle size, it will produce the size of bubble that is important factor in Dissolve Air Floatation system. In order to get the best result for the separation system between the water and waste, the factor of bubble size is a key. The hypothesis that can be made is that, the smaller bubble that can be produce, the higher quality of water result can be gain. Each bubble size will create different bubble motion or flow pattern. The performance of efficiency can be measure from pattern flow and bubble size. Our research will focus on design the nozzle size, flow pattern of bubble and measuring the performance efficiency. The testing will be run by the prototype that will be fabricated after we selected the best of three nozzle design. The result from this research is useful to be implemented in industry to reduce time and cost in water treatment system.
